Mississippi State Bulldogs land 4-star safety Kennedy Green again in 2027 class

The Mississippi State Bulldogs landed a major recommitment on July 11, when four-star safety Kennedy Green pledged to the program for the second time.

Green, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound defensive back from Douglasville, Georgia, chose the Bulldogs over offers from South Carolina, North Carolina, Nebraska, Auburn and others. He originally committed to Mississippi State in November 2024 but backed off in June 2025.

Who is Kennedy Green?

Green is ranked No. 373 nationally by the 247Sports Composite. He's the No. 32 safety in the country and the No. 40 player in Georgia.

Last season, he recorded 56 tackles and two interceptions. That production made him a priority target for Mississippi State's coaching staff, even after he decommitted.

How does this affect Mississippi State Bulldogs' 2027 recruiting class?

Green becomes the Bulldogs' fourth four-star commit in the 2027 class. He joins running backs Yoshawn Hudson and Christian Alexander, plus defensive lineman Jaden Bayonne.

Before Green's pledge, Mississippi State's class ranked No. 52 nationally and last in the SEC. That ranking should improve with this addition.

The Bulldogs also have three three-star safeties in the class: Trae'kerrion Collins, Hudson Fuqua and Ke'Vontae Pitts. Green's experience and size give that group a clear leader.

What comes next for Mississippi State football?

The Bulldogs open the 2026 season against the UL Monroe Warhawks on September 5. That game will be the first chance to see how this recruiting class fits into the program's long-term plans.

Green's recommitment shows the staff's ability to rebuild relationships after a decommitment. That matters in the SEC, where recruiting battles never stop.

Mississippi State now has 10 total commits in the 2027 cycle. The staff will keep pushing for more four-star talent to climb the conference rankings.

Green is expected to enroll early and compete for playing time as a freshman. His combination of size and ball skills fits what defensive coordinator Coleman Hutzler wants in the secondary.

For now, Bulldogs fans can celebrate a win on the recruiting trail. The real test comes when Green suits up in Starkville.
