Mississippi State Bulldogs scored a big recruiting win, landing a pledge from former Stanford commit Devontray Brewer, a 3-star linebacker prospect.
The 3-star linebacker originally committed to Stanford on June 2 and flipped following an official visit to Starkville on June 19.
Brewer hails from Tupelo high school in Tupelo, Mississippi and stands at 6-foot-1, 225 pounds.
Brewer's commitment is the 15th of the 2027 cycle for Mississippi State, and he's considered the third-ranked prospect in the Bulldogs' class.
He's the second linebacker pledge alongside 3-star Louisville, Mississippi native Ayden Coleman.
The Bulldogs are gearing up for their next game against UL Monroe Warhawks on 2026-09-05.
Brewer told MSU writer Robbie Faulk, "There's no better ball than the SEC, so this is an honor and privilege to be able to play in the league and suit up for the Bulldogs."
According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Brewer is considered to be the No. 767 overall prospect in the 2027 class.
He's also the No. 64 linebacker and the No. 20 prospect out of the state of Mississippi.
Brewer held offers from Michigan, Ole Miss, and Arkansas, to name a few, before committing to the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs' recruiting class is shaping up to be a strong one, with Brewer's commitment being a key addition.
The team is looking to make a push in the SEC, and Brewer's skills will be a valuable asset.
