Mississippi State Bulldogs Secure Commitment from Tupelo LB Devontray Brewer

Mississippi State Bulldogs have flipped Tupelo linebacker Devontray Brewer from Stanford, adding a key recruit to their 2027 class.

What happened?

Brewer announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Instagram on June 29, just a day after decommitting from Stanford.

He is a three-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite and holds offers from Michigan, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Baylor.

Why it matters for Mississippi State Bulldogs

Brewer's commitment is a significant boost to the Bulldogs' recruiting class, which now ranks No. 53 nationally and No. 15 in the SEC as of June 29.

The 6-foot-1, 225-pound linebacker is ranked as the No. 767 prospect nationally and the No. 20 player in Mississippi.

What comes next?

The Bulldogs will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next game against the UL Monroe Warhawks on September 5, 2026.

Brewer's addition to the team is expected to strengthen their defense, which will be crucial in upcoming matchups.

He had 119 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks last season for Tupelo.

Brewer is the second linebacker in Mississippi State's recruiting class, joining Louisville three-star Ayden Coleman.

The Bulldogs' 2027 recruiting class has 15 commitments, including one four-star in Winona running back Yoshawn Hudson.

Brewer's commitment post on Instagram read "God's plan. Family's support. Childhood dream. Mississippi State, I'm coming home.
